Adelaide based indie artist Annie Higgins is an Australian singer/songwriter.
She has been writing and recording since her early 20's and then began a solid career of performing, teaching and publishing music while juggling motherhood.
Annie published her first album in 2012 and sold her music to over 500 faith communities in Australia and New Zealand with her contemporary album 'Mass For Living.' (A rare thing in done in catholic communities.)
Whilst moving around with her husband working in Defence and re-schooling her three children, she wrote and performed with some of Sydney's top session musicians and recorded her first commerical album, 'Pot of Gold.'
Now signed with label Underfoot Records her music is a fusion of Acid Jazz, Funk, Reggae and Soul that takes a fresh take on womanhood, spirituality, family and empowerment. Her music supports women making brave choices, juggling work, kids, lives and identities and still rising to new heights each day.
The Musicians - Live Recordings ...
Annie Higgins and Luke Gerber (from band Mel Blue) met up to write and produce an honest acoustic groove vibe that is essentially Australian with funk, soul and jazz influences. They brought together talented musicians on the album that included Jeff De Araujo (Sarah Blasko's band) on drums and percussion, Sean Venezuala (Little Archer Beats) on keys, Nathan and Jacob Parks (Hot Potato Band) on Trombone, Saxophone and flute, Jesse Tachibana (Thunderfox) on Trumpet. Produced and engineered by Mic. Hardwick at Underfoot Studios, together they have woven together with the unique sonic signature for Annie.
It's been a creative and fun process, making the sort of music we can put on with family around. Friends are commenting that it's really chill and easy listening over a beer or wine.
